Bleaching Powder is a pale yellowish-white powder, technically known as Calcium Hypochlorite Ca(OCl)₂ with a strong smell of chlorine. It is produced by passing chlorine gas over dry slaked lime. Bleaching Powder is a powerful disinfectant, bleaching agent and oxidizer, widely used for water purification, sanitizing and textile whitening. It eliminates bacteria in swimming pools, treats drinking water, bleaches cotton & linen and acts as an oxidizing agent in industries like paper production.
