Chromic Acid
High-Purity Chromic Acid for Metal Finishing, Electroplating & Industrial Applications
₹339.00
Chromic Acid is a powerful, dark red and highly corrosive oxidizing agent (formula: H2CrO4 or CrO3) primarily used in industrial chromium plating, metal treatment and as a laboratory cleaner for glassware. It is commonly prepared by mixing sulfuric acid with a dichromate solution.
Applications of Chromic Acid:
Chromic Acid is widely used in:
Metal Finishing & Electroplating: It is heavily used in "hard" and decorative chrome plating for automobiles, appliances, and in the aerospace industry. It is also used in etching plastic components before metallization.
Surface Treatment: It used in passivation to protect metals against corrosion.
Wood Preservation: It is applied as a treatment to protect wood from rot, fungi and decay.
Organic Synthesis: Chromic Acid acts as an oxidizing agent in chemical reactions, such as transforming primary alcohols into carboxylic acids and secondary alcohols into ketones (Jones reagent).
Manufacturing & Production: It is used to manufacture dyes, pigments for paints and in the production of ceramics, colored glass and glazes.
Cleaning Laboratory Glassware: A solution of chromic acid in sulfuric acid (chromic-sulfuric acid) is used to remove stubborn, insoluble organic residues from laboratory glassware.
Other Industrial Applications: It is used in photographic bleaching, printing/engraving processes and as a component in ceramic glazes and colored glass.
