Poly Aluminium Chloride

Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) is a highly efficient inorganic polymer coagulant, often referred to as PAC, PACl or Basic Aluminium Chloride. It is used primarily for water treatment, purification and industrial effluent treatment. It acts faster and forms larger floc than traditional alum, operating effectively across a wide pH (5–9) and temperature range while reducing residual aluminium. It works by neutralizing charges on suspended particles, forming heavy flocs that settle faster than traditional alternatives like alum, resulting in less sludge.

 Applications of Poly Aluminium Chloride:

• Drinking Water Treatment: It is used in municipal water treatment plants for purification, efficiently removing turbidity and colloidal particles.

• Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Poly Aluminium Chloride effectively treats wastewater from industries such as textiles, papermaking and pharmaceutical, reducing chemical oxygen demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and total organic carbon (TOC).

• Sewage Treatment:  Poly Aluminium Chloride is used to clarify municipal sewage and industrial effluent with lower sludge production compared to traditional salts like alum.

• Paper and Pulp Industry: It acts as a sizing agent, retention aid and filter aid in the pulp and paper industry to enhance paper quality and reduce costs.

• Oil and Gas Industry: It acts as an oil-water emulsion destabilizer, improving efficiency in oil refining.
