Sodium Gluconate (C6H11NaO7) is the sodium salt of Gluconic Acid. Sodium Gluconate is produced by fermenting Glucose. It is a white to tan crystalline powder. It is a versatile, non-toxic and biodegradable compound. It binds metal ions (like calcium, iron & copper) efficiently, especially in alkaline solutions. It is widely used as a superior, non-toxic and biodegradable chelating agent. It is used as a superior chelating agent, pH regulator and stabilizer in construction (concrete admixture), personal care, food additives and industrial cleaning.

Applications of Sodium Gluconate:

Construction & Concrete Industry: Sodium Gluconate is known as a powerful retarder and water reducer, it increases the setting time of cement and improves the fluidity/compressive strength of concrete. It acts as a corrosion inhibitor for steel reinforcement.
Industrial Cleaning & Surface Treatment: Sodium Gluconate acts as a chelating agent to remove rust, scale and iron deposition from metal surfaces. It is used in cleaning aluminum, glass bottles and in bottle-washing formulas.
Food Industry (E576): Sodium Gluconate is used as a sequestrant, stabilizer and thickening agent to maintain food texture and color. It also functions as an acidity regulator and is used to remove bitterness in food.
Cosmetics & Personal Care: It is used as a safe, eco-friendly chelator in skincare products and shampoos, often replacing EDTA to enhance stability, prevent oxidation and increase lather.
Water Treatment: Due to its excellent scaling capacity, it is used as a corrosion and scale inhibitor in water treatment systems.
Textile & Tanning Industry: Sodium Gluconate is used in the tanning process and to remove impurities in textile manufacturing.
